Who and what is Local Market South?
Local Market South is made up of two Atlantans who love food, particularly some of the great food that the Southeast is producing. We want to share that love with the rest of the country and we want to give other southerners the chance to do the same. You can learn more about us at About us.
How does it work?
We work directly with the South's finest food artisans to bring you their favorite products. When you place your order, we have your items shipped directly from the source, packed to order. Local Market South's unique relationship with our purveyors allows us to offer special seasonal selections and online exclusives from time to time and you'll always be able to purchase them just as you would any of our other items (no sign-up or invitation necessary).
Ice cream? Meat?
Yep, we sell and ship ice cream, pancetta, delicious delicious bacon and other things that are not traditionally thought of as being available online. Our amazing purveyors are experts at handling their products and have figured out processes to get their goods to you fresh and un-melty. Note that the shipping charges are a little more complex with "cold" stuff, but that's 'cause the shipping is a little more complex, too. It's worth it.
How does Local Market South choose products?
We're constantly checking out regionally produced food at farmers markets, festivals, tastings and restaurants. We look for deliciousness first and foremost, and then we want the right combination of quality (no junk!), story and shipping stability. "Shipping stability" doesn't sound like a tasty trait in a food item, but hey, it's what it takes to get those items to you fresh.
Ordering & Returns
Can I order by phone, fax or not-the-internet?
Nope, orders can only be placed through localmarketsouth.com. If you have trouble ordering, though, we'll be happy to help you through the process.
Will I be charged sales tax?
If your billing address is in Georgia, we are required to charge and collect sales tax.
How can I pay? Is it safe?
We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover cards. You can also check out via PayPal by selecting that option when viewing your shopping basket. Purchases are processed via a secure encrypted connection. We do not store credit card numbers.
What is Local Market South's return policy?

How are orders shipped?
All orders are shipped directly from the source. For product-specific information, including carriers and shipping times, visit any product's page and scroll down to the section titled "Shipping information." Please make a note of any special instructions, particularly with delicate items like ice cream, meats and chocolates – during certain times of the year in certain parts of the country, these items should not be left outside for significant lengths of time.
Why is shipping so expensive?
Some food items require complex shipping materials like dry ice, cold packs and/or insulated boxes. Some items are heavy and fragile. We work with our purveyors to provide the latest packaging and shipping options to make that part of the Local Market South experience as economical as possible.
How is shipping so cheap?
We charge as little for shipping as we can – when possible, we negotiate rates with shipping carriers and we will always pass along any savings to our customers. We acknowledge that shipping is the least fun line item in your shopping basket and our goal is to keep that cost as low as possible.
How can I track my order?
When possible, we will contact you with a tracking number for your shipment. Please note that not all of our purveyors will be able to provide tracking. In these cases, we will do our best to notify you when your order has shipped.
Can I recommend a product or purveyor?
We're always on the lookout for new treats. If you produce or know of something that might be a good fit for Local Market South, please send us info at email@example.com and we'll check it out.
